About Us

The School-Based Health Center (SBHC) is a collaboration between MAUSD and Mountain Community Health. The goal of this program is to improve student and staff healthcare at Mt Abe, reduce the time students and staff are out of school for appointments, and empower students and staff to lead healthy lives.

Nurse practitioners and physicians from Mountain Community Health (MCH) will be at Mt Abe Health Office EVERY FRIDAY, while school is in session.

Students and staff do not need to be an existing patient at MCH to receive care. Also, students and staff do not need to switch providers or give up their current provider to receive care. The SBHC operates like an urgent care center. Any student or staff member at Mt. Abe can be seen

Medical conditions we will treat include: concussions, injuries, strep throat, ear infections, rashes, headaches, stomachaches, contraception and sexual health, and mental health. We provide sports physicals.

Payment: health insurance will be billed, when appropriate, using the same procedure as when a student or staff member sees their own primary care physician or urgent care. Students and staff without insurance are eligible for Mountain Community Health’s sliding scale program, based on income.
